Artist
Raja Ravi Varma (1848–1906) is widely regarded as one of the greatest painters in the history of Indian art, often called the father of modern Indian art. Born into a royal family in Kerala, he became renowned for fusing European academic painting techniques with Indian sensibilities and iconography, bringing Hindu deities and mythological figures — from the Mahabharata and Ramayana — to life with striking realism.
