Artist
Edvard Munch (1863-1944) transformed personal grief and anxiety into images that shaped Expressionism across Europe. He lost his mother and his elder sister to tuberculosis in childhood and returned to those losses throughout his career. He left over a thousand paintings to the city of Oslo.
