Artist
Odilon Redon (1840-1916) spent the first half of his career working almost entirely in charcoal and lithography, producing dark fantastical images he called his noirs. Then, around the age of fifty, he turned to colour and never went back — pastels and oils of extraordinary luminosity, mostly flowers. He is the rare artist whose late work is far lighter than his early.
