Artist:
Camille Pissarro (1830–1903) was a Danish-French painter and one of the key founders of the Impressionist movement. Often referred to as the “Father of Impressionism,” he was the only artist to exhibit in all eight Impressionist exhibitions between 1874 and 1886. Pissarro played a vital role in mentoring artists like Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, and Georges Seurat, helping bridge the gap between Impressionism and Post-Impressionism.
Pissarro is best known for his peaceful depictions of rural life, urban scenes, and changing seasons, often painted with loose brushstrokes and a soft color palette. His works reflect a deep respect for nature, everyday labor, and the rhythms of modern life. He experimented with Pointillism later in his career but always retained a focus on atmosphere and harmony. His humble, collaborative spirit and commitment to innovation made him a central figure in the evolution of modern art.
